Irrational service: Compulsory national service Bill to hit Parliament in 2014?
A military-mind MP proposes a form of mandatory service – charitable
or military – for 18-to-26-year-olds to instill a greater sense of
‘self-respect, personal reliance, discipline and behaviour’ into
society. Would that include the self-respect of not being told what to do,
where to live and at what pay, by the stunningly arrogant MP for
Kettering? How about instilling some ‘self-respect, personal reliance,
discipline and behaviour’ into the liars, criminals and on-the-takers who call
themselves ‘politicians’, Mr Hollo-something? That would be a far better place to start.
