‘Britain is becoming more divided as Town Hall funding cuts hit the poorer
areas hardest, two new studies reveal today.
Deprived areas have lost an average of £100 more per person than the richest
thanks to the Government’s austerity measures, one report found.
Councils in poor parts of the country have seen their spending slashed by
21.4% compared to 15.8% for the wealthy ones, the Joseph Rowntree Foundation
(JRF) said.
The growing divide was confirmed by the town hall spending.’
