Survey on the UK’s record on disabled people’s human rights

Is the UK implementing disabled people’s rights under the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities?

May 2013

Information about your experiences is being requested by United Kingdom Disabled People's Council, (UKDPC).

UKDPC want to find out about:
  • What life is like for disabled people across the UK and
  • How well the UK has done in making rights real for disabled people.
The ‘United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities’ is an international agreement. It is important for disabled people’s human rights throughout the world.

For more information about the Convention go to:

http://www.un.org/disabilities/convention/conventionfull.shtml

The agreement, which is also known as a treaty, says that disabled people have the same human rights as everyone else. This includes things like the right to education, information, independent living, and support services.

The UK has signed up to the Convention and must make sure that it is working to make disabled people’s rights real.

UKDPC would like to find out about your experiences and what you think about this agreement.
It is up to you whether to choose to take part and you can stop at any time.

UKDPC will use the information you give them to show the UK Government what they need to do so that disabled people will get full human rights.

UKDPC will also use the information to create a report to send to the United Nations showing where the UK is not doing very well.

We will not use any names in the report and no one will know you have taken part.
Please take your time to answer the questions.

Thank you.
