
‘Bungling Iain Duncan Smith’s problems deepened today after a spending watchdog said his flagship Universal Credit project was poor value for money.
The head of the National Audit Office refused to sign off the Work and Pension Department’s annual accounts because of the “shocking” waste of money on the welfare reform.
In a further blow to Mr Duncan Smith, allies of George Osborne claimed he was ‘not up to the job’.
The briefing against the hapless Work and Pensions Secretary comes amid growing concern within the Treasury over the shambolic Universal Credit scheme.’
