‘The British parliament’s Energy and Climate Change Committee has grilled heads of energy supplier giants as public is cut between the fast approaching winter and the ever-soaring prices.
British Gas, Npower, SSE and Scottish Power – four of the largest energy suppliers in the UK have already announced plans to raise bills by an average of 9.1 percent.
They are accused together with bosses from Ovo Energy, EDF, E.ON and Co-Operative Energy of systematically overcharging customers by £3.7billion a year.
As they were being grilled before the parliamentary committee on Tuesday, the heads of giant energy providers were taken to task by one of their smaller rivals, Ovo Energy’s chief, who said he “cannot explain any of these price rises” as his company is buying gas for 7 percent less than it was two years ago.’
