A majority of voters believe the Conservative Party only represents the interests of the rich, according to a new ComRes survey for the Independent.
51 per cent agreed with the statement that ‘the Conservative Party only represents the interests of the rich’, while 42 per cent disagreed.
Almost one in five people (18 per cent) who voted Tory in 2010 agreed with the statement, and women (54 per cent) were more likely to agree than men (47 per cent).
The survey also asked voters who they trusted the most to run the NHS, with the public saying they trust neither David Cameron or Ed Miliband to protect the health service.
Over half (56 per cent) did not trust Ed Miliband, giving him a net rating of minus 23 points. 61 per cent did not trust David Cameron, giving him a net rating of minus 31 points.
However when asked whether the present government had a better record on the NHS than the previous Labour government, 28 per cent agreed while 57 per cent disagreed.
ComRes interviewed 1,002 GB adults by telephone between 22 – 24 November 2013
