Esther McVey, the former 'GMTV' presenter, has apologised for using House of Commons stationery and postage for Tory electioneering
As employment minister, Esther McVey knows the vital importance of an
impressive-looking letter. The former GMTV presenter has, however, been
formally reprimanded for using House of Commons stationery and postage for
electioneering for the Conservative Party.
Mandrake can disclose that the MP, who was promoted by David Cameron in his last reshuffle, has apologised to Kathryn Hudson, the parliamentary standards commissioner, and promised not to repeat her breach of the rules.
McVey sent around 500 letters and surveys to constituents using Commons headed paper and stamps in September, at a cost of almost £300. She has said “sorry” for the “unfortunate incident” and arranged for the sum to be repaid.
