MPs to get a chance to scrap the hated Bedroom Tax

MP Ian Lavery speaks inside Committee Room 12 before the debate. Supporters of The Mirror's Real Britain & Unite the Union's campaign to abolish the bedroom tax protest outside the Houses of Parliament on the day a debate is held on the social tax.
Attack the tax: Ian Lavery MP

Ian Lavery – Labour MP for Wansbeck – is to bring a special 10 Minute Rule Bill to give MPs the chance to scrap the Bedroom Tax.

The 10 Minute Rule Bill is a way for backbench MPs to introduce legislation.

Ian Lavery will speak for no more than 10 minutes on why the Bedroom Tax must be abolished. And an opponent can then reply for 10 minutes.

If the Bill is passed, it is the first step to it becoming law.

The Bill was due to be introduced yesterday, but has been postponed until February 11 or 12.

Please email or write to your MP now to ask them to make sure they support the Lavery Bill.
