PDSA dumps work for benefits schemes

Government Work Schemes

PDSA has reviewed its position regarding the Government work placement programme and has taken the decision not to participate in the scheme going forward.

The recent debates regarding the Government’s work experience schemes has prompted PDSA to withdraw.

Some of our retail stores have had placements on a variety of Government work experience programmes and anyone wishing to remain as a volunteer will be welcome to stay. Indeed, many of our volunteers on work experience placements have chosen to stay on with us long after their placements have finished because of the positive experience they have had with PDSA. Others have gone on to paid employment using the skills they have gained with us.

We have never used work experience placements in place of paid staff. All placements are voluntary and work alongside other volunteers in aid of a very worthy cause.
