Plans would see child benefit and tax credits limited to two children




‘The radical proposals set out by Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi would limit child benefit and child tax credits to families’ first two children.

Writing in the Mail on Sunday he said capping benefits by family size would “save billions and help the next generation think more carefully about their relationship with the welfare state”.

A family with three children, with parents earning below £50,000 and so able to claim child benefit in full, would lose out on £696 by only being able to claim for two children.’

Tory MP Nadhim Zahawi admits taxpayers paid energy bill for his stables



‘A Conservative MP who was found to have used almost £6,000 of taxpayers’ money to cover the energy bill of his second home has apologised after it was revealed the public also paid for the lighting in his stables.

Nadhim Zahawi, the MP for Stratford on Avon, said he will pay back the portion that covered ‘a mobile home located in the stable yard and the stables themselves’.

Writing on his website he said: ‘I have made a mistake with my electricity claims.’
