Cameron ditched Compassionate Conservatism and left broken Britain in a fix





‘It seems sadly appropriate, as the first anniversaries of welfare “reform” approach, that by-election voters should be going to the polls in the Wythenshawe and Sale East constituency tomorrow.

The image of David Cameron campaigning there in 2007 barely a year after his “hug-a-hoodie” speech, with Ryan Florence making a gun sign behind his back, seems an appropriate epitaph for Compassionate Conservatism.

Funny how you never hear the words ‘broken Britain’ any more.’
