David Cameron’s “Flashman”
rants and refusals to give straight answers at Prime Minister’s Questions
have sparked complaints from the public.
Speaker John Bercow got 34 letters, emails and other messages in the three months to November that condemned the behaviour of the Prime Minister and MPs in Parliament.
One worker in Coventry said: “If I spoke in the way that David Cameron spoke to Ed Miliband, I would face disciplinary measures.”
And a message posted on the Parliament website said: “Get Cameron to answer the questions at Prime Minister’s Questions. I hate you all with a colossal amount of passion anyway, but there’s only so much p*** you can take.”
One voter branded MPs “rowdy buffoons” and another said: “It’s a ghastly throwback to 19th-century upper-class braying.”
But most complainants warned that the PMQs confrontations damaged Britain’s reputation, put people off politics and set a bad example to the young.
